Dear memory community,
We are happy to announce that the registration for the 2019 IAM World Memory Championship is officially open at https://www.iam-memory.org/iam-wmc-2019-registration/
Please note the following important points:
1. The registration fee is EUR 120. Payment is via PayPal. Registration is valid once the payment has been completed (or if the athlete provides the IAM with documentation of payment that makes it clear that the money is on the way).
2. There are 200 athlete places in total. 100 of these spots are reserved for non-Chinese athletes till 1 November. Registration and payment for the 100 Chinese spots is via our organizer. A we chat QR code for the same is available in this post
3. 45 reserved places: 45 places will be reserved for athletes from the Top 100 in the IAM World Ranking (as of 17 September) until 1 October 23:59 GMT.
4. 50 free-for-all places: 50 places are free to register immediately on a first-come, first-served basis, open for registration (be quick: note the athlete limit per country below).
5. 5 places will be filled via wild cards issued by the IAM. Example: A former champion wishes to make a comeback and only decides to enter at a later stage of the registration process, once all other places are already taken.
6. There is a limit of 20 athletes per non-Chinese country. Note: While the top 100 places are reserved (until 1 October), the reserved places also block spots in a country’s athlete limit. That means that if a country has x athletes in the top 100, only 20 minus x non-top 100 athletes from that country can register before 2 October. From 2 October onwards, when the reserved places become free, the normal athlete limit applies again for each country on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are unsure if you can already register, we will answer all of your questions asap.
7. Starting 15 October, the athlete limit will be removed, meaning that there will no longer be a restriction on the number of athletes from a country.
8. There will be an option to participate in a digital format with the IAM software
9. For chinese athletes, more details regarding registration will be shared shortly.
10. Starting November 1, all of the remaining spots of the 200 total will become free for all on a first-come, first served basis.
