After a long silence, the new IAM Board wants to say hello. Sorry for the wait and thank you for your patience!

Some updates:

  1. WMC 2019
We hope to be able to give you updates on our 2019 WMC very soon. There was some delay here and we are aware people want to plan, so we are working in high gear here. The initial idea is that it will be in Fall. More info soon to come.
  2. Staff Updates
After the new Board with its ten members from all parts of the world had come together at the start of February, they have discussed a number of topics and have elected a president for the board. Simon Reinhard has been elected unanimously. Ben Pridmore has left the board for private reasons. We are happy that Ben will continue to support the IAM as one of our homepage admins. Thanks, Ben! He will be replaced by Nathalie Lecordier, who got the next-most votes in Europe. The board has decided to amend the election rules in that regard according to its prerogative and not hold a separate special election. We feel Nathalie is very qualified and has enjoyed huge trust by the voters during the board election.
  3. New IAM Teams
We are distributing our tasks on specialized teams to be more effective: Charifa Souissi will head the PR team, Katie Kermode, Akash Rupela and Sylvain Estadieu will be in the Software team. Huge thanks also to Sven Wetzel and Norbert Reulke for volunteering for the Software team and to Ben Pridmore for his future homepage work.
  4. Volunteering
We always need volunteers. If you like to help, give us a note. You can write to volunteers@iam-memory.org or send a private message to any board member. Being a volunteer means no obligation if you do not want that, you contribute as much as you like. Just knowing you might be available if you have time would be really appreciated by us.
  5. IAM tournaments:
A number of tournaments are upcoming or planned. 26/27 July we will have the IAM German Open in Tuttlingen, Germany. You can register at memomasters.de until 30 June at reduced rates. We intend to make this as digital as possible, using the IAM software. For that purpose we would ask you all to help us with some last minute tests: If you want to help, go to iamwmc.com/competition/training.html and train the International Standard events. Browser: Chrome only! Please send your test reports to software@iam-memory.org. We would be grateful if you also sent info about runs without errors so that we can gauge the ratio between good and faulty runs.

    • In August, Ben Pridmore will organize his UK memory tournament as part of the MSO according to IAM rules on 18-19 August, 2019.
    • The IAM French Open will be held on 12-13 October, 2019.
    • There are also plans for an IAM Egypt Open, which we are happy about because it provides memory athletes in that region with new options they might want.
    • We will keep you regularly updated about any upcoming tournaments.
  6. IAM Levels
Our Software team is working hard to finally integrate our IAM Levels (to see your IAM level, you can currently go to this page) in our stats page iam-stats.org. We have seen some preliminary footage and it looks great. Also, as requested among others by World Champion Alex Mullen, we will have an additional ranking list based on the IAM Level scores.
  7. Future Updates
We aim to give you regular monthly updates from now on about anything board-related to ensure full transparency: What was discussed, what was voted on, new rules etc… After a bit of a late start that somehow seemed needed so that the new board could find its own footing, we intend to do things right from now on.
Best wishes to everybody, we will be in touch again soon.
