There are still 9 open spots for our world championship in Lund in November 2024. They will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis, so be quick about it. Write a mail to wmc@minnesforbundet.se informing the organizers that you want to register. You will then be provided with a payment link and your spot will only be secure after you have paid. Currently we have the following languages in our translations for the Words and Dates events: Arabic, German, Danish, French, English, Italian, Japanese, Mongolian, Polish, Swedish, Hebrew, Vietnamese. Please note that if your language is not among those but you register before 24 October, your registration / the sending of the payment link to you will be subject to a decision by the main arbiter because we are very close to the championship and new translations need time. In any case, no translations for new languages will be possible if you register after 24 October. Athletes who want to use one of the languages listed above can also join after this date if there are still spots available by then.
We would also like to notify athletes that in order to create greater confidence in translations, athletes will for the first time have the opportunity to send in “test sets” of words in their own language for a proofreader. The idea is that the set created by the athlete contains deliberate errors that the official proofreader would have to spot (like adjectives, adverbs, plural nouns etc… ). The arbiter / organizers would then forward the set to the proofreader in charge of WMC proofreading who would proofread the set and find potential errors put into the set by the athlete and the corrected set would be returned to the athlete. The athlete can then gauge the quality of proofreading. Maximum length of a set is 200 words and only one set per athlete can be handed in. Please note: Athletes who want to do that have to pay for all the costs themselves (they will be informed about the costs before deciding) and the whole testing procedure can only be done for sets handed in at the latest by 25 October. That also means if you register later than 25 October, that option will not be available to you.
We are also providing the list of all athletes who have registered and paid and have thus confirmed their spot:
