Here are the latest updates from the IAM board, including key upcoming activities and improvements.
The board prioritises transparency into our work and resolves to share regular updates with the memory community. You can always reach out to us at info@iam-memory.org for any questions and feedback, or use the new ideas page discussed below:

A) World Memory Championship 2019

We are fast approaching this year’s World Championship held on 29 November – 1 December in Zhuhai, China.
Registrations for WMC are in full swing, so register soon if you want to attend – the limit is 200 competitors.

The competition has a record total prize pool this year of $70,000 USD. And that’s without the non-cash prizes!  Competitors have the advantage of choosing digital or paper to complete the contests (except speed cards) and you bring your own Laptop if you choose digital

B) IAM Board Elections

We are currently planning the 2nd edition of IAM Board Elections, and are looking for volunteers to conduct these elections. Please write to us or comment on this post if you are interested to become a member of the IAM Election Committee.

E) Competitions Held

  • The IAM has recently held the 2019 French Open and Indian Memory Championships. Congratulations to the winners Andrea Muzii and Prateek Yadav, with Prateek moving to 1st place in the World Rankings. Andrea broke three world records – 428 in 5-minute Images, 550 in 10-minute Cards and 1122 in 15-minute Numbers
  • We also held a digital competition for interested athletes to familiarize themselves with IAM Software. The results are available here.

F) Website Updates

  • A great new levels calculator tool has been added that allows all members to easily see what combined scores are needed to achieve any IAM level ranking. This adds clarity to the levels concept
  • Danish, Polish, Swedish, Turkish and Azeri dates were added to the IAM training site.
  • We are always looking for your ideas and suggestions. To make this open and democratic a new ideas page has been created where the memory community can add, discuss and vote on improvements to our sport.

G) Other Board Activity

The Board is currently working on updating our rulebook which will be shared soon with the community. We will also be responding at least on a monthly basis to all the ideas on our ideas page.

Please keep writing your suggestions to us. We love to hear from you!
