We are happy to announce that all preparations for the first free and democratic elections in the history of memory sports have been concluded.
A group of dedicated volunteers in our election discussion group has had detailed and intense discussions about the election rules since early spring, and the rules have been finalised. You can find the official IAM Election Rules here. We advise that you read the election rules carefully so that you can stay up to date about the coming elections.
We intend to have representatives from each continent on the Board in order to have the diversity of opinions and viewpoints to bring the IAM forward. Some milestones were reached during the first two years but much still lies ahead.
The elections will be conducted according to the election rules by our election committee which will be acting on its own and independently. We are happy to have won Boris Nikolai Konrad, Florian Minges, Raj Jain and Guillaume Petit-Jean as volunteers for this election committee. These four will make all the decisions regarding the election rules from now on, including about the timetable and all other questions.
Important point: You will need to register as an IAM member in order to be eligible to vote. Also a minimum age of 15 years and active participation in the memory community in the last three years as athlete, arbiter, organizer, volunteer or contributor is required. Note: Participation in any (also online) Memory League tournament like the Knockouts or the League divisions themselves is sufficient. IAM recognises that Memory League has become an integral part of memory sports in the last years, is attracting new athletes and is generating great interest and enthusiasm, which is what the sport should be about.
There will be a separate post by the election committee about registering as IAM members, but of course if you already have questions about your eligibility or already want to inform them that you would like to be a voter, feel free to message them. The same applies if you have questions about other topics that are part of the election rules.
We look forward to the voting process commencing!
